After the success of my experiment in 2014 with the nautical books, I decided to periodically repeat the attempt, and using some small constraints of size, material and color, to create sets of books that range through every binding style I know. This set, from 2016 are the ‘Autumnal Books’ using a standard 5″ by 7″ size, recycled paper pages and Fall colors.
Whereas many of the books I make are designed as risk-taking exercises, these are intended to be quality tests, exploring the best I can do in each epoch. Thus far I have made two of the seven which are to complete the set. Pictured below are a coptic binding (wine color) and a hollow backed case binding (jaundice color).
